The company’s first headquarters was located at 883 State Street, Carthage, New York, in the garage of C. Channing Redfield’s house. In 1991, the business moved to its present location – 504 South Washington Street, Carthage. The building, approximately 14,000 square feet, was renovated to provide suitable office facilities.
The company’s equipment and storage yard is attached to the office building and includes areas of enclosed storage space and 6 acres of open storage space. The office and yard facilities are situated on land located directly in front of C. Channing Redfield’s airport.
Channing Redfield moved to Carthage in 1969 when he was hired at Carthage Central School as the Varsity Football Coach. He remained there as Physical Education teacher until he retired from CCS in 1998.
Chan purchased a big house in 1971 that needed a new roof, so that summer he learned the trade. In 1972, he created C. Redfield Contracting. During the next three years he hired college athletes to help complete area roofing jobs.
In 1983, Chan hired Michael Fox as a partner. They have been together ever since.
In 1988, 1st General Services was added to the company for insurance repairs.
In 1990, Redfield’s employees became experts with SUPAFLU Chimney Liner and became British Guild Flumasters.
C. Redfield Contracting became incorporated in 1991 and today over $15,000,000 in small jobs have been completed.
